Student-led geopolitical analysis

Foreign policy
beyond the first take.

Most geopolitical analysis available to Western audiences is produced by Western institutions, through Western frameworks, for Western policy purposes. Third Institute exists to correct that imbalance.

What we publish

Student analysis.
Seven regions.

Third Institute publishes a quarterly flagship edition and weekly analysis written by university students and researchers from across the world — people with direct regional knowledge and the analytical frameworks that come from studying and living inside the regions they write about.

Every piece answers three questions: what happened, why it matters strategically, and what it reveals about how the relevant state or actor is positioning itself.

Quarterly

Flagship Edition

One theme, seven regions, each piece written by someone who knows the region from the inside.

Weekly

Briefing Note

Every Monday, one region in focus: a short, sourced read on a key development.

Weekly

Analysis

Longer analysis from contributors across the network, published through the week.

Fridays

Newsletter

What we have published this week, closing with a letter from one of our editors.

"Third Institute is built on a single conviction: that understanding the world requires hearing from it."

The network runs through seven regional desks, each led by a Head of Desk working with contributors at universities across their region.
